Judith Pintar is a storyteller, sociologist, and game designer. She directs the Electronic Literatures & Literacies Lab (EL3) at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, which promotes programming literacy through the social sciences and humanities. She is the author of CosmoServe, a classic work of IF which simulates online life in the pre-internet BBS era, and she is the lead designer of the Illinois Map project, which facilitates the crowdsourced, collaborative authoring of interactive fiction (IF). Pintar is presently a member of the Board of Directors of the Interactive Fiction Technology Foundation (IFTF).
